About Us

The Project

Through this collaborative project with Harris Tweed Hebrides, Making for Change and Ravensbourne University London, we are looking to further explore and implement a strategy that identifies new routes to market through recycling excess Harris Tweed® into unique and/or bespoke products and at the same time support the island community through research informed training in product development and manufacture. The products manufactured by Making for Change in London, a unique centre focusing on community development and opportunity, empowerment and rehabilitation is a key collaborator to the project. Our focus is multifaceted as it addresses the notion of green transitions in a numerous ways. Specifically, collaborative impactful research that leads to the use and reuse of excess cloth through the application of circular models that sustain the Harris Tweed Hebrides (HTH) community workforce and build further community reach. In addition, training methods in brand and product development, understanding the value of a USP, and developing a powerful narrative around circular models and the impact of repurpose and reuse, will be developed to accommodate the island community most of whom have had no training in product development and or manufacture. The aim is to produce a collection of products using surplus Tweed to prevent it going to landfill and increase and embed ideas of circular economy at a local level.

A Few Words About

Our Team

Our aim, in this project, is to develop a sustainable model that not only addresses waste but also creates opportunities for growth and collaboration. Our team enables us to engage with new communities, foster understanding, and work together for the common good. Together we invest in training and upskilling to ensure issues around circular models, sustainability and biodiversity are addressed at every stage of the supply chain.
